CANDLE MAKING - SYDNEY
10th November 2016 (6.30- 8.30pm)
What You Will Learn
Your eyes, your nose, your hands and your heart will totally enjoy this class – it is where you become the candle / fragrance maker! We will set up a 'lab' where you will select and pour your own candles. Who knows where this class will take you but you will leave with a collection of incredibly unique and decadently beautifully fragrant candles, all hand poured. Access to Elise's fragrance lab is a unique opportunity to learn this divine pastime using her incredible nose as your guide. Please don't think this is for vintage teacup people only, a few minimalists in our office are bringing their Danish glass and Japanese ceramics to fill.
What You Will Get
All wax and unique scents to use in making your own candles, tea, wine and a light dinner will be served.
You will be able to select your own fragrance from Elise's hand mixed scents. Like La Rose - a poesy of soft florals with tops of morning dew and white cotton, delicate buds of tea rose and geranium, powdered violet and a dry down of rosewood and soft musk. The inspiration was her Grandmother's garden filled with old fashioned roses and tiny wild violets. Or La Lumiere, a warm and spicy fragrance with top notes of soft grounded clove and oriental spices, middle notes of french leather and dark amber, followed by base notes of burnt cedar wood and labdanum tree. The idea was to recreate the smell of an ancient private library with century old books, worn out chesterfield couch and dusty floor boards and four others.
What they say
'I just want to thank MM and Elise for allowing us to spend the evening making candles at The School. It was such an amazing night, I'll be sure to share them with the hubby and kids!'
NOTE: PLEASE bring in your old teacups, or heirlooms (the perfect way to make sense of a meaningful piece of china or a bequeathed tea cup) and learn the gentle art of candle making. (MUST BE APPROX 8CM DIAMETER MAXIMUM). Otherwise we have jars on hand, 2-3 pieces per person.
