Day 1: 1 MarchHOLI COLOUR PARTY
Morning! And welcome to day-bliss. Yoga Class with our very own in-house yoga master Mr Uppal who will take us through the 5 principles of yoga over our 5 days. Bliss out like you have not experienced before then dissolve into bespoke Ayurvedic treatments and massages for each of us. Oh and lookie, lookie, it is the day of HOLI Festival. Full moons and total colour celebration of the highest vibrations! Holi celebrations, elephant festivals, and a dinner to welcome this ridiculously auspicious Indian occasion.
Yes, day 1 is a corker – it has to be, it is India after all!
Day 2: 2 MarchJEWELS, GEMS AND DREAMS
Today is dedicated to gemstones and making a talisman of our trip. We start at the iconic Gem Palace and end at genuine traders’ markets then back to our own in-house design studio where we will learn to set our own stones in a pendant or bracelet. Unforgettable evening drinks and dinner at the draw-dropping Sujan Rajmahal Palace (with a reccie around Lady Di’s fave room) poolside in this private paradise. Hollywood meets old India at this hotel and it will render you speechless.
Day 3: 3 March
PRINT + PATTERN
We start, after yoga, with a lesson in pattern and print, at the iconic Bar Palladio. Marie–Anne Oudejans is the Dutch designer responsible for bringing owner Barbara Miolini’s Italian brief to boiling point. Her incredible taste and aesthetic is world-renowned and her work, when experienced in the flesh, will leave you giddy. Bar Palladio has no visual peer, and its hedonistic atmosphere will have every colour and pattern lover salivating. The day concludes with cocktails at Narain Niwas, showing more of Marie–Anne’s incredible work at the chicest cocktail bar in India. Your eyes will need a detox after today, it’s beyond swoony and the stuff dreams are made of - pass the smelling salts, day 3 is faint-worthy stuff.
Day 4: 4 MarchBLISS, BLISS, BLISS!
SOURCING, SOURCING, SOURCING!
After yoga, take our blissed bodies to the 3 best textile, silver and jewellery markets so you can survey the shopping scene. Late afternoon is spent on a private tour of the Pink Palace followed by a you-won’t-believe-your-eyes dinner in the private rooms of the Palace. Yes, it’s true. The King of Jaipur’s restaurant has a private booking for us, and the moonlight walk through the Peacock gates, with zero crowds this is something else altogether. You won’t be able to speak. No point trying, this is India and we are guests of the King, and there is nothing anyone can do about this incredibleness.
Day 5: 5 MarchPHOTOGRAPHY
We meet the legendary photographer Mr Tikam Chand and his 150 year-old magnificent Zeiss camera. Take a lesson in old school photography from this master, with incredible results. His camera holds cherished historical value, and we will learn to shoot and process with his methods passed down to him from his father’s father. Tiffins are packed with lunch for a day of photographing sites, like the Monkey Temple and the famous Fort, with our own camera. After an afternoon of rambling aesthetic archaeology we visit Jaipur’s best book binder who will show us the age old techniques of this much loved art form. Then it’s back to our house for our incredible last supper, and mark our words, the table-scape of tonight’s last dinner will leave you speechless and forever dreaming of Jaipur’s exquisite scents, sounds and tastes.
OPTIONAL ADD ON SIDE TRIP TO PUSHKAR: 6 - 8 March, Rose farm and perfume class.
A two day extra side trip (all inclusive of meals, accommodation, incredible last dinner, transport to and from Jaipur with our driver) is offered for $1520.
