SHIBORI - SYDNEY

An introduction to the magic of Shibori with Joanna Fowles.

THE CLASS

Joanna is a textile designer, printer, dyer and digital crafter. She is a person of process with a focus on elements of the hand: mark making, hand screen print, dye, and shibori resist techniques to produce abstract geometric artworks and textiles.

With over fifteen years in the design industry she has sold and exhibited her work internationally. Work has featured on trend forecasting site, WGSN and she has sold to clients such as Louis Vuitton!

Shibori is in one word, stunning. Using beautiful silk scarves and this ancient Japanese dyeing method we will create your own scarf that defies beauty. Japanese dyeing is perfect for the inexperienced and we will cover various tying, clamping and resist-dye Shibori techniques. Choose your own technique to make your own unique hand-dyed scarf.

Note: Feel free to bring your own things in (bedding, scarves, pj's, jeans or pillowslips) to add to the vat. People get 'shibori fever' and usually can't stop!
