THREADS, SEQUINS AND ANANDA

In the words of Rumi, the 13th-century Persian poet, "Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you really love.” Karishma Kasabia, designer at Kholo, has been drawn to embroidery for decades, her source of bliss, of ananda. Her favourite room in the world, is in the sleepy, artistic city of Kolkata where artisans thread beads and sequins to silk and cotton.

THE CLASS
The class includes textile exploration, working within colour palettes, understanding the nature and opportunities with a sequin range and so much zen. Over the course of three hours, we’ll be taking it slow and appreciating the nature of focus and the joy of beading (the Class isn't tambour beading, you will use a circular hoop in a traditional embroidery style).
You’ll be working on two different outcomes, a frame art piece and a fabric wrap.
All fabrics are remnant fabrics (you are welcome to bring your own if there is a particular piece you’d like to work on) and all sequins are supplied from best quality suppliers.

WHAT YOU WILL GET:
  • Fabric swatches
  • Frame for art piece
  • Sequin range to design from
  • An embroidery hoop, needles and thread

 YOU WILL LEAVE WITH:

  • Embroidered pieces (these may be partially complete)
  • Piece of custom beaded furishiko
  • A morning spent in ananda
