FAQs
OUR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
ARE MATERIALS INCLUDED?Everything you will need - all you have to do is make it here. If there is something special you might need to bring we will let you know via email prior to the class and it will usually also be noted on the class page.
HOW BIG ARE THE CLASSES?
Anywhere from 10 - 30 people. We have a large space and can handle many, but we tailor class sizes to the project or lesson at hand. Masterclasses run by Megan Morton can go up to 40 people at a time.
ARE ANY PARTICULAR SKILLS REQUIRED TO ATTEND A CLASS?
Absolutely not. We will mention it if there is something you need to be familiar with, but by and large classes are open to all levels of capabilities (or incapabilities!).
ARE THE CLASSES SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?
It is best to email classes@theschool.com.au if there is no mention of children attending on the class homepage. While many of our classes are a great deal of fun for kids (like Watercolour 101), other classes are not suitable (like Watercolour 202).
IF I DO A STYLING MASTER CLASS WILL I BE A STYLIST?
No. In the same way that someone who takes a cooking class doesn't become a chef, this class will not make you a stylist over night. But we’re sure the insights you’ll learn will carry you forward onto potentially unimaginably wonderful things! It’s about you taking the next step. People's testimonials are always joyous with common praise that they are 'impatient to get their creative journey started' and it was 'the best day of their life' and 'nothing like they expected, only ten times better!'. People have gone on to do and achieve amazing things in their creative businesses using this class as a kick starter and a true insight into the industry. We have many people whose attendance to the Science of Styling masterclass caterpulated them into heady creative work. Call us and we can put you in touch with people in your state who are walking, talking engaging endorsements of what we teach at the Master Classes. See the next question for the differences between the two Megan Morton Master Classes.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE SCIENCE OF STYLING MASTERCLASS AND THE DESIGN & DECOR MASTERCLASS?
While the two Master Classes have been designed as a companion series, there are some definite distinctions between the two. Science of Styling, we include the word 'science' because we look at styling from a historical point of view, is the repeating success of the relationships that things have with other things. The Science of Styling class is about making the amazing happen and understanding the beauty around you. The Design & Decor class is practical and a very accountable process - perfect for those of you with a definite project / deadline / conundrum in mind. This is not a `create a mood board' class by any means - in fact, quite the opposite. It helps you access your styling confidence which is why it's perfect for those with projects that need delivering. If the Science of Styling is the MAGIC then Design & Decor is the MOJO!
WHERE CAN I PARK?
Anywhere on Dunning Avenue or surrounding Morely Avenue or Hayes Road. All these streets are unmetered. Our nearest train station is Green Square and is a 10 minute walk to The School grounds.
HOW DO I BOOK?
We accept online bookings through our safe-as-houses credit card system. We can't reserve your space until full payment is received. By making a booking you accept the Terms and Conditions of The School Rules.
DOES THE SCHOOL OFFER GIFT VOUCHERS?
This is one of the things we love to do the most, as a gift to The School really is the kindest thing you could give someone who wants to get their hands into something a little creative. Gift certificates are valid for three years, cannot be redeemed for cash and comply with our School Rules. Please email us, classes@theschool.com.au to arrange.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN’T MAKE MY CLASS?
You will need to find someone to replace you as we cannot process refunds for no-shows or un-ables. In the last minute case that you are unavailable to attend your session, it is wonderful karma to pass on your place to someone who will truly appreciate it. Please always send us an email once you are aware of not being able to attend so that we can put your replacements name on the roll call, or open your place to someone on a wait list.
